I decided to get in touch with Kate because I had got stuck in a rut with my eating habits. I like to cook, and thought my diet was reasonably healthy because I didn’t buy convenience foods or takeaways. I also exercised regularly and lifted weights, so at 41 and a size 14, I had more or less accepted that this was the weight/size/shape I was meant to be. I hoped to pick up a few tips, and if I lost any weight then that would be a bonus.
Over the years I’ve been a size 10 and a size 20 and everything in between. I’ve always struggled to keep my weight down. I’ve tried Weight Watchers, Slimming World, the Atkins Diet, the Slimfast Plan, diet sheets from my GP, you name it… I even bought Phentermine “diet pills” which are basically just amphetamines so although I lost weight quickly, I was an absolute gibbering wreck! No matter what I tried I either stayed the same, or quickly regained the weight again. All I was losing was money.
Kate asked me to fill in a food diary for a week prior to our first meeting, and as the week went on it really hit home just how unhappy I was with the way I looked and felt. After looking through my diary together, Kate explained her approach which was to set me 3 achievable goals every week, and track my progress. I wasn’t convinced at first that making such small changes would make a difference, but I was prepared to give it a shot.
It’s now almost 10 weeks later and I’ve lost over a stone. My clothes fit better, I have more energy throughout the day, and I’m really enjoying cooking and eating a much larger variety of foods. However, what’s more important for me is that I finally have a feeling of control over my own body again, and as a result I feel much more confident and positive about myself. This has been about so much more than numbers on a scale for me. I’m learning new things about nutrition every week and I know this is something that I’ll be able to maintain. Thank-you Kate!

I can’t recommend Kate enough to anyone looking for help with nutrition and weight loss. By following her advice and making gradual, changes to my eating habits I lost over 2 stone and never felt bored or restricted with the food that I ate. Kate’s approach works because she keeps it simple and doesn’t overwhelm you with a barrage of information or set you unrealistic goals. I looked forward to our weekly sessions, and they become a new way of taking care of myself.
It’s now 18 months on from my initial consultation and by sticking to Kate’s principles I’ve been able to keep the weight off. Not only did she help me to lose weight, Kate completely transformed the way I feel about food. Her enthusiasm is infectious, and I still really enjoy looking for new recipes and planning my meals. My mindset has completely shifted. I’ll never join another slimming club or get lured in by the latest fad diet ever again!
